Mother (Mama), a film by Vlado Škafar, will have its world premiere at the international film festival in Rotterdam. This will be Škafar's third film at the Dutch festival, which ranks just behind the big three Berlin-Cannes-Venice.
Two of Škafar's films were already screened at the festival in the past. Those were Letter to a Child (Otroci) in 2008 and Dad (Oča) in 2010 which had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
The Slovenian Film Centre (SFC) informs that director Vlado Škafar (1969) will attend the world premiere of the new film together with a part of the team that worked on it. The film will be presented in the official festival program entitled Bright Future, which will include 11 world and 12 international premieres. The selection features film authors which nurture their own styles and views.
Confirming Škafar's film in the official program, the festival selector wrote: "I truly fell in love with the film. It's exciting, emotional and beautiful, and in my opinion the director's best work so far." Škafar, who erases the line between fictional and documentary film expression, is also the screenwriter of Mother, which is a Slovenian-Italian co-production.
The international film festival in Rotterdam will take place between the 27th of January and the 7th of February.
