The jury wrote that the book is not a paraphrase of the Novel on books by Rožanc, but is written in a similar spirit, the spirit of commitment to reading so intertwined with life and awareness of other people that, looking from a standpoint of old age, a life without books could not have been the same as it has been in the company of books.

Because, according to the author, "a book accompanies you, finds you, convinces you, and after many years summons you again".

This year the members of the jury were Ignacija J. Fridl (President), Manca Košir, Barbara Pogačnik, Edvard Kovač and Milček Komelj, who however abstained from decision making on the winner.
