Brina Srebre and Jasmina Padar, the first an interior designer and the second a graphics designer, spent their days in local Maribor cafes thinking about ways to satisfy their creative needs and appetites. At the same time they wanted to offer to the public something interesting and never before seen. That is how they came up with the idea of a Triglav cushion, and later also with the name of their brand "Tri gore" and logotype: a stylized design of Mt. Triglav.
Triglav was conceived as a souvenir product. The pair found that among the multitude of existing tourist products there was a lack of souvenirs of Mt. Triglav, the symbol of Slovenia. Their most sold products up to this day is still their handmade cushion stitched from felt and filled with spelt shells, which give a massage-like feeling, and lavender, which calms and has a positive effect on ones feeling. The two are happy that their product is not only found in the shopping baskets of tourists, but also in many warm Slovenian homes.
Closely trailing the success of Triglav is their white enamel mug with the inscription "Explore the unseen". The enameled mugs and plates are the product of their cooperation with the EMO Novum factory for enameled kitchenware. "There has been growing interest for enameled products in recent years, as they come from human-friendly materials, they're non-allergenic and suitable for all kinds of stoves. At the same time they're extremely resistant and we thought it would be a great idea to spread our offer with enameled products. Our hands create different motives intended for everyone, from nature lovers to those who like to have a cup of tea or coffee on their journey," Brina and Jasmina explain.
"Nature fills us with energy"
Mountains, it seems, have become a trend. Social networks, and especially Instagram, are full of pictures of snowy mountain tops. Have we, at last, discovered that the key to happiness lies in a return to nature? "We could say that it's nice to see that. That there are people, who despite the fast life rhythm, still take time for themselves and head out into nature, in the mountains, where time comes to halt and where the peacefulness gives us a chance to arrange our thoughts, completely disconnect from our everyday worries, and find our inner peace," are the thoughts of the two designers, who are also in love with the mountains and hiking. "Nature fills us with energy, so whenever we can we use our free time to escape to nature. And thanks to the name of our brand we have also now conquered the tops of several two-thousand-meter mountains."
Only one half of the team - Jasmina - has climbed to the top of the highest in Slovenia, Mt. Triglav. A task still waiting for Brina, who is very much looking forward to it. "It was already in my plans last year, but due to my busy schedule it has now been transferred to this year's list of wishes," she explains. Brina also describes the work process of the pair: "Every day has to start with coffee. We just can't do without it. Jasmina takes care of all the promotional material, the advertising on social networks, sending the packages, while I take care that the cushions are stitched, the bills paid and that all the ordered products are packed and ready for their new owners. Regarding the creation process it's like this: usually we first select the product we would like to create, then each one of us prepares draft drawings and ideas, and then together we choose the best result."
When they don't plan new products or hike in the mountains they like to visit exhibitions, fairs or a good concert. "We charge our batteries by taking breaks. They can be short weekend breaks when we visit the sea or the mountains, or even month-long breaks when you discover new things, conquer new summits and widen your horizons on the other side of the world." Everyone who has embarked on an independent creative path is considered their role model. Brina and Jasmina are also sending a message that despite the many falls and disappointments along the way, one should never give up but keep going and believe in success. "It's not all rosy, but it definitely pays off to believe in your dreams, to follow them and work hard for them. Every effort is rewarded in the end, and there is no greater satisfaction than proving to yourself and others that you can do it."
