"What I can say for Luka is that he has a very big wish to play for the national team. We'll see what happens at the NBA draft on the 21st of June. We'll start with practice on the 25th of June and we'll see what kind of obligations he'll have then. We're not sleeping, we are working on it, we're communicating, our secretary general Radoslav Nesterović is fully organized, he knows people, and he knows the NBA… We'll see what happens, but we hope the outcome will be positive and that he'll be able to play," said coach Trifunović talking to Val 202 radio.
The coach also hopes to have the help of another player from Real Madrid, Anthony Randolph, who said that if he was healthy, he did intend to come to the preparations of the Slovenian national team. "If things happen the way they should, even he will come. The national team means a lot to him, and what he experienced last year at the Eurobasket is something phenomenal."
As expected, the MVP of last year's Eurobasket, Goran Dragić, is not on the list. However, the coach did talk to him and still hopes that Dragić will be able to help the national team in future campaigns.
Compared to Slovenia's last matches, also missing from the list is the injured Zoran Dragić. Returning to the list is Jan Kosi, who played well in the preparation matches for last year's Eurobasket.
In the Stožice Arena in Ljubljana, Slovenia will first play against Spain on the 28th of June, and then against Montenegro on the 1st of July.
