It is decorated with special ornaments which are embossed onto the cheese with little wooden boards with various carved patterns on them.

Shepherds used to make the Trnič cheese in pairs of two, as their shapes resembled the breasts of a woman. However they never made the cheese too big. “That would use up too much milk,” say the shepherds from Velika Planina, in the style of true natives of the Gorenjska region.
