With a career of over six decades, Gustinčič was considered one of the most accomplished journalists in Slovenia. In 2012, he was conferred an Order of Service by the president for his contribution to open, tolerant and cultured dialogue.

He died just a week after his last column for Mladina magazine was published.
Marking his 90th birthday, TV Slovenija made a documentary of his life and work ("Jurij Gustinčič's 20th Century"), which was aired night.

A book of condolences will be opened at RTV Slovenija in Ljubljana until the end of this week.
