Naber recorded the music video for "On My Way" at TV Slovenia’s Studio 1. "Intense emotions can’t shine through the screen if the video is overproduced – there’s just too much information. The song is very intense, intimate, and emotional, so it’s only right that the visuals match that," stressed Naber.
Naber is not the only star in the music video. Jernej Kozan, a gifted young dancer, is featured as a dancer in the video. "I sent him a clip of me dancing to his song. Omar replied immediately and asked me to star in his new music video," mused Kozan.
A new version of the song
The song featured in the music video is a reworked version of the original song. The remix was created by Žiga Pirnat, Omar’s arranger. "Everything’s different. The only thing that’s left from the original is the melody – and the lyrics. I’m very pleased with Pirnat’s version. It’s bolder and a better fit for Eurovision. People might say: ‘Hmm, aren’t the changes too bold?’ The thing is, we’ve grown too accustomed to the old version, so the reworked version might come as a shock to some – but that’s only because they’ve grown too accustomed to the old version," said Naber.
The instrumental part of the song was played by the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra. Pirnat conducted the orchestra via Skype from Los Angeles, where he lives and works. Fun fact: The Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra also recorded the music for “Rise Like a Phoenix”, the winner of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, which is the main reason why Pirnat decided to collaborate with them.
Naber, who is currently on a promotional tour, has been drawn to sing in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest, airing live from Kiev on May 9.
