Stjepan Križnik, who visited the tower with his trade union, was identified as the landmark visitor, the Municipality of Lendava said.
“Vinarium draws about 100,000 visitors a year, and I’m proud of that. We were delighted to welcome our 300,000th visitor, and our goal is to keep up the good work,” said Janez Somi, head of the Lendava Tourism Association.
Most of the visitors come on public holidays. On May 1 this year, Vinarium received 1,728 visitors. During the Easter holidays, the tower was visited by more than 3,500 people.
Lendava Mayor Anton Balažek is also pleased with the numbers. “100,000 visitors a year is more than we ever hoped for. The project has exceeded our expectations, and I’m glad we’re getting such a great return on investment,” said Balažek.
Vinarium, also known as the ‘Eiffel Tower of Prekmurje’, is 53.5 metres tall and allows visitors to see the surrounding area as well as parts of Hungary, Croatia, and Austria. It was first opened on September 2, 2015 and has been gaining popularity with tourists ever since.
