"The accommodation is poor, the food is bad, we're cleaning the rooms ourselves, we don't know when we'll get transport, and we don't know who is supposed to pay for things. However, we're not trying to make excuses, in case we fail to fulfil our goals for Rio. No one will ask us about the conditions, and I won't be mentioning them myself anymore either. We're not the only ones, everyone has the same conditions. We
need to organise ourselves as soon as possible, perhaps improvise a bit, and we'll do just fine," explains Vujović.
"Is this the Olympics or some village competition? It's clear at every step that these people don't have organisational skills, and that's why this [t/n: chaos] is happening. But we need to rise above all this and turn the circumstances to our own advantage," argues the Montenegro-born head coach of the Slovenian team, who had demanded for Thursday's friendly match against Denmark to be played behind closed door. Slovenians beat Danes at the rehearsal ahead of the Olympic tournament by one goal, 22:21 (1st: 12:9).
The main goal of Slovenia is qualifying for the quarterfinals. According to Vujović, Sunday's first match will be extremely important. Slovenia's first opponent will be Egypt, which thinks highly of itself: "They only acknowledge three or four teams, and we're definitely not among them. But we respect them, we won't underestimate them, although we believe we're better than them. We're not afraid of the judges either, although the president of the association is Egyptian, so they'll definitely be on their side."
