Representatives of various anti-establishment groups still believe that reasons for protests are ongoing. The 29th of October movement has prepared a protest outside the parliament in Ljubljana today. They have demanded an ending to secret international trade agreements, the legalization of cannabis for medical purposes and a ban on imports of genetically modified foods.
Some protesters believe that the greatest achievement of Maribor protests was the launch of the Urban Assembly Initiative. It developed self-organized urban communities and has, among other things, proposed an introduction of a participatory budget, which has since moved from local to national scale.
Some also say that current movements can't be called anti-establishment or protest initiatives, but merely a normal way of citizens connecting and working together to solve certain problems. Another good thing that came out of the protests is that people are much less tolerant when it comes to bad decisions of policy makers at local or national levels. Some participants of urban initiatives therefore think massive protests could happen again soon.
