At this moment it’s impossible to predict what the future will bring since there are vast differences in legislation, production and inspection in the Americas and the European Union. So it’s difficult to estimate the expected effects on Slovenian agriculture and the food industry.
Some studies say they expect an increase in turnover in both directions for goods like red meat, sugar, white meat and milk. The studies also show the potential for higher quality export products to America.
Slovenia’s goal is to ensure geographical protection for that already have European protected status, including Kranjska sausage and certain wines.
