The data gathered from the transmitters could reveal where these young turtles spend the winter months. This will allow biologists from the University of Primorska to study the migration patterns of young loggerheads.

Although much is known about mature loggerhead sea turtles, young loggerheads have not been studied as extensively. With a total body length of about 40 centimetres, Rino and Mauro are about three to five years old.
