According to the leader of the SMC party parliamentary group Simona Kustec Lipicer the coalition has no information regarding the procedure for sale of Telekoma Slovenije, as the procedure is led by the Slovenian Sovereign Holding (SDH). At the moment there are different opinions within the coalition regarding whether the sale of Telekom should be decided upon by the government and the shareholders' assembly.
SD Party is of the opinion that the members of the government should take the responsibility, while SMC and DeSUS Party claim that the decisions at this stage should be taken by the Slovenian Sovereign Holding, including the decision whether the assembly should be the one to make the decision regarding Telekom.
The leader of the SD Party deputies Matjaž Han hopes that the government has some more data regarding the sale of Telekom, based on which a responsible decision could be made, as the government has to comply with the decisions of the National Assembly – i.e. that Telekom must be sold to a strategic partner, which Cinven in his opinion is not. Cinven is a fund, which according to him restructures companies and resells them.
The leader of the DeSUS Party deputies Franc Jurša expressed similar concerns, although he gave no definite opinion regarding the sale of Telekom. He reminded that in the past DeSUS was never completely opposed to sale of companies, but only cautioned that the price must be adequate, and procedures transparent. The adequate price is according to him the price the buyer and the seller agree upon.
Has the decision been already made by the Slovenian Sovereign Holding?
According to unofficial information obtained by Dnevnik newspaper the Slovenian Sovereign Holding management has already made the decision to propose to the supervisory board the sale of Telekom Slovenije to the British financial Fund Cinven. According to unofficial information obtained by Finance the session of the Slovenian Sovereign Holding will be called as soon as technical details are finalized.
