On November 11 strong winds have caused a lot of damage to forests in Slovenia. According to the national Forest Service around 250 thousand cubic meters of timber was damaged, which is currently valued at EUR 5 million.
It is expected that the final number of damaged trees will reach between 400 and 500 thousand cubic meters. The national Forest Service urges owners of damaged woods to call qualified contractors for help, as trying to remove damaged trees is extremely dangerous.
