Four years ago, 60% of internet users used smart phones, this year 85%, while the percentage is even higher among young people. Within traditional media, television has lost the largest number of users, while newspapers and radio have kept their percentage of users at approximately the same level as four years ago, reported the survey.
Researchers at Iprom and Valicon found that television suffered the biggest drop, 13% in four years, yet it remains the most influential traditional medium. An increasing number of people watch TV with a time-delay and browse on their smart phones while sitting in front of TV. More than 70% of viewers do this. Simultaneous use of several media devices is on the increase, adds Matjaž Robinšak from Valicon.
Print media, which declined considerably due to the internet, and radio have kept a roughly similar percentage of users as in the period between 2014 and 2018. "I think that radio has already overcome its crisis. It is currently the first medium people turn to while travelling, while listening to radio at home is no longer as popular."
