On the eve of the International Day of Human Space Flight the unveiling ceremony of the bust of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was unveiled at the Cultural Centre of European Space Technologies (Ksevt) in Vitanje. He took his place in history on April 12, 1961 as the first human to travel into space.
The ceremony was attended also by Valeri Tokarev, who in the 90s of the past century tested and flew Buran spacecraft in the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre.
The bust of Yuri Gagarin unveiled at KSEVT is the work of sculptor Leonov, and several casts have been made, one of which is standing also at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington. From now on Gagarin's bust will be exhibited in Vitanje as well.
