Židan has also communicated another party's decision, to encourage the government to come to the conclusion that the supervisory board of the Slovenian Sovereign Holding (known as the SDH) has not given its consent for the sale of Telekom, the national telecommunications operator, due to two important reasons.
The first reason is the demand for a special guarantee, which the supervisory board is not authorised to give to a potential buyer. "These guarantees cannot be given either by the minister or the government. In the opinion of Social Democrats, special guarantees, i.e. that the buyer would get extra money if anything occurred, can potentially be given by the parliament, but even this is questionable," argues Židan.
The second reason is the question of whether a certain buyer could be considered strategic or not. "The buyer which is being mentioned at the moment, cannot be considered strategic in any way, since it is a financial fund, which enters, reconstructs and sells at a higher price," explains Židan. Another huge issue is the low price which has been offered by the fund. In Židan's opinion, the offer would only be acceptable if the company were in liquidation.
