Severe postsurgical complications, leg amputations, and not treating such complications are some of the examples discovered by crime officers. In some cases patients were left alone to seek medical aid at Slovenian emergency wards, where they again had to undergo surgery. Other examples are cases of patients having spasms or numb legs, badly performed cuts and scars, unnecessary and inefficient procedures, and the misleading of patients with regards to his operation methods. Crime officers have collected this evidence with the help of Zimmermann's former patients, who have clearly decided to step on the doctor’s toesr.
An unnecessary surgery and a permanently damaged nerve
Among the patients is also 33-year-old Kim Stanič, who was persuaded by Zimmermann at the beginning of the year to undergo varicose vein surgery. Other vein surgeons, who later had to deal with the patient's postsurgical complications, assessed that the initial surgery was not needed at all.
