The Bishop of the Evangelist Church Geza Filo appealed for life of mutual serving: "Let's become buds of the new humanity, and try to live in mutual serving, without arrogance, in peace and with respect." He said that the Easter message is and will always be the same: "At the very beginning of the world and its history, and at its very end, there is nothing else but God, the living God."
According to Bishop's words, faith and unbelief in this message have been travelling together for millenniums: "Every person has the right to speak out his opinion on this message. But we all hope to live in this world as human beings, and to behave as such – and if it is not so, it is our intellectual and civilisational defeat," he warns.
"It is God who calls from non-being to being, and who is capable of calling from death into life," he summarized the essence of Easter holidays.
Zore: Jesus died and lives
The Archbishop and Metropolitan of Ljubljana Stanislav Zore in his Easter missive wrote that the Christian religion believes and teaches that Jesus died for human sins, and resurrected because of the atonement.
According to Archbishop Stanislav Zore, the basic proclamation of Christianity and of Easter is that Jesus resurrected and lives. "After passing through the darkness of betrayal and rejection, through the darkness of abandonment by those close to him, after enduring the act of the then judicial authority, and the mockery of the mob, after suffering the anguish through the Stations of the Cross, and dying, after suffering through desertion by the Father, and merciless finality of the grave, he rose from his grave at daybreak of the Easter morning. That's the basic proclamation of Christianity. Jesus died for our sins, and resurrected because of our atonement. Jesus died, and he lives," he wrote.
That's another reason why we "cannot and should not deny yearning for resurrection and life we carry within. We must not silence our wish for fulfilment our entire demands. Resurrection is not an illusion, fulfilment is not a fantasy. Eternal life is not a mirage for unhappy humanity, but a gift our lord Jesus Christ is bringing to us through his resurrection," Zore stressed.
He appeals to all the sick and the suffering, the oppressed and the exploited, the persecuted and those who see no meaning of life, calling to all to lean on Jesus and trust in him. He finished his missive by wishing to all blessed Easter, especially to all the Slovenians abroad, and to all the "sister churches".
