The first national conference on Artificial Intelligence opened in Mengeš today.
At the opening Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon and Digital Transformation Minister Emilija Stojmenova Duh called for more cooperation and public trust for the successfull development of AI in Slovenia.
Minister Stojmenova Duh said AI technology had a long tradition in Slovenia, with the first research in this field going back to 1972. She also called for the development of ethical AI in order to build trust.
Minister Fajon said that in addition to its advantages, AI technology also brings many challenges regarding privacy, security, and ethical questions.
The ministers agreed that the rapid development of AI will also require adjustments to the education and employment systems.
