According to the Slovenian Statistical Office (SURS), 2,064,632 people resided in Slovenia on 1st October 2015. The number of Slovenian citizens fell by 700, while the number of foreign nationals rose by almost 2,300. The former now represent 5.2 per cent of the population, i.e. 106,486 individuals, with the share of women being on the increase.
In early October last year, the population of Slovenia consisted of 1,023,392 men and 1,041,240 women. Among the citizens of Slovenia, 51.3 per cent are female, but the trend is negative – the number has been decreasing slowly in recent years.
Among foreign nationals, women represent 34.5 per cent, yet the share has risen by 4.2 percentage points, writes SURS.
