In Slovenian journalist, politician, doctor and veterinarian Janez Bleiweis is born. He became leader of the so-called Old Slovene political movement. During his lifetime, he was called “father of the nation”. In 1881, Bleiweis was granted a knighthood by the Emperor of Austria Franz Joseph I. The same year, he died in Ljubljana.
