the Statue of Liberty is uncovered. The statue was donated to the U.S. by France in a sign of alliance between the two countries, but later became a symbol of American ideals. It was designed by the French sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. The Americans built the pedestal of the statue, and the French erected it in the United States. The statue before its erection was divided into 350 individual parts and packages. It was put together in 4 months.
