The government has decided to earmark 275.000 euros for reconstruction work in the municipalities of Tržič and Kranjska Gora. The Municipality of Tržič will receive 200.000 euros, while Kranjska Gora 75.000 euros. The government will also transfer 300.000 euros from the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning to the Slovenian Water Agency.
Damage to water infrastructure assessed at more than 20 million euros
The government established that the Municipality of Kranjska Gora is in need of intervention funds due to a landslide at Belca, while the Municipality of Tržič needs intervention funds to ensure that the local road to Jelendol can be used for transport again. Parts of the road collapsed in three areas near a tunnel and is now impassable.
The Slovenian Water Agency is in need of additional funds to ensure the adequate flow of the watercourses. Apart from being affected by erosion processes and torrential deposits, fallen down trees from wind damage also pose a threat, as they can cause flash floods the next time it rains. A preliminary assessment of the damage to the water infrastructure is above 20 million euros.
