At the writers’ stage of the annual Slovenian book fair, which takes place at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana, awards for the most beautiful books have been handed out. The top place has been awarded to designer Anja Delbello for her work on Blue – a book on bluefish, which was written and self-published by Klemen Košir.

In addition to Delbello, seven other award recipients have been selected by the Chamber of book publishers and booksellers, which is part of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce.

Besides winning the main prize for the book on bluefish, Delbello also received an award in the category of manuals.

The prize for the most beautiful book in academic literature and non-fiction was awarded to a designer who calls himself Humanist. The book Constructivism and Kosovel was co-published by KSEVT Institute and Scientific Publishing House of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana.

The most visually appealing comic book of this year’s fair is Pijani zajec (Drunken rabbit), illustrated by David Krančan for Forum Ljubljana, while the award for the most stunning book of poetry went to Zeliščarka (Herbalist), written by Svetlana Makarovič and illustrated by Maja Licul.
