Danes se bomo osredotočili na veliko izgubo glasbene industrije, saj je William Hart, glavni pevec in tekstopisec skupine Delfonics, umrl v starosti 77 let.
Njegov prispevek k skupini je bil ogromen, Hartov vokal je bil ključ do uspehov na Billboard Hot 100, kot so "La - La - Means I Love You," "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)" in "Ready or Not Here I Come."
Delfonics so bili ena od vodilnih skupin vzpenjajoče se soul scene v Filadelfiji poznih 60. in zgodnjih 70. let. V sodelovanju z legendarnim producentom Thomom Bellom so se bujne, sanjske harmonije skupine ujemale z Bellovimi simfoničnimi mini zvočnimi krajinami in ustvarile bolj gladek, blag zvok soula, kot ga običajno slišimo v drugih uspešnicah Motown-a v Detroitu ali bolj grobih iz Stax/Volt v Memphisu.
Njihove pesmi so seveda močno vplivale na bodoče glasbene izvajalce, zato ne preseneča, da so bili semplani v več kot 220 poznejših pesmih in prirejeni več kot 70-krat.
La - La - Means I Love You je bila semplana v 30 pesmih, večinoma s strani raperjev, kot so Ghostface Killah, Nicki Minaj, Shaggy in Drake, v 30 primerih pa so jo priredili glasbeniki kot je Prince in Jackson 5 med drugim.
Zapuščina The Delfonics je bila obujena sredi 90. let prejšnjega stoletja, ko je uspešnice skupine obudila generacija raperjev. In the past years we’ve exposed the background and samples of newer hits and evergreens. This year we will focus on songs that are most frequently sampled in the music industry. This week we have arrived at number 49 of our chart. Number 49 of the most often sampled songs is 'Blow your head' from Fred Wesley and the J.B.'s. This James Brown influenced funk creation offers an exceptional intro to the song, that many musicians, mostly hip hop artists of the 90's, used as sample for their own songs.
