A traditional get-together was held under the 750-year-old Najevnik Linden Tree near Črna na Koroškem. Around 400 people, including high-profile politicians, attended the gathering. President Borut Pahor called on every citizen to take care of the country, adding that everyone had a responsibility to preserve the peace, security, and current level of prosperity for our children and grandchildren.

On February 26th 1992, almost 26,000 people, including some 5,400 children, were illegally erased from the register of permanent residents of Slovenia. President Borut Pahor on Friday offered them a formal apology.

The 24th Winter Olympic Games in Beijing official closed on Sunday and they will be remembered as very successful for Slovenia. Slovenia won seven Winter Olympic medals in Beijing, which is Slovenia’s second best medal tally at the Winter Olympics. Two of them were gold medals, three silver and two bronze. The winter event The Snow castles of King Matjaž has taken place place at Mitnek underneath Peca each year in January since 1993. It’s central event is usually the competition of teams in building snow castles and snow sculptures. Given the current situation, the municipality Črna na Koroškem this year again decided that the annual event is to be held a bit differently than it has been in the past.
