A number of civil society and non-governmental organisations that have formed an initiative dubbed the Voice of the People has addressed a number of concrete requests connected to the rule of law, welfare, climate change, housing policy and the elderly, ahead of the general election, scheduled for 24 February next year. They called on political parties to take their position. The initiave already consists of 57 visible organisations.

President Borut Pahor hosted a debate on the proposed legislative changes to public broadcaster RTV Slovenija. Participants debated the need for the legislative changes and the future of RTV SLO. At the start of the summer, The Culture Ministry proposed extensive changes to the act on RTV Slovenija and changes to the STA Slovenian Press Agency. The changes include cuts in RTV Slovenia’s budget amounting to around EUR 13 million.
