A number of civil society and non-governmental organisations that have formed an initiative dubbed the Voice of the People has addressed a number of concrete requests connected to the rule of law, welfare, climate change, housing policy and the elderly, ahead of the general election, scheduled for 24 February next year. They called on political parties to take their position. The initiave already consists of 57 visible organisations.

For more than 30 years now skiers have had the possibility to vote for the best ski resorts in the country, and the results of this year’s Naj smuščišče – or Best Ski Resort awards were announced last week. Organized by Radio Si, Radio Maribor, Radio Koper, and the Dobro Jutro web portal, awards were given out for the best ski resorts in 4 categories: best small, medium-sized and large ski resorts, as well as an award for best foreign ski resort.

The 94h academy awards took place in Los Angeles yesterday. 'CODA' was crowned best picture, taking home the top honour of the night. Jessica Chastain won the best actress for ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’. The 24th Winter Olympic Games in Beijing official closed on Sunday and they will be remembered as very successful for Slovenia. Slovenia won seven Winter Olympic medals in Beijing, which is Slovenia’s second best medal tally at the Winter Olympics. Two of them were gold medals, three silver and two bronze.
